Delaware Encounters
By Scott McLellan
The privileged records of much American history focus on what the land was just after it was settled by people of European migrants. What was here, though, before the land became “settled”? Were the forests, plains and valleys in Wooster simply unoccupied prior to its division by the Larwills in 1807? This exhibit explores the brief “pre-history” of the area now occupied by Wooster, offering a glimpse into encounters with the (Leni) Lenape (Delaware) people of Ohio.
